Indian Army conducts test of new Indigenous heavy artillery Gun Dhanush
Army has successfully conducted user validation
trial of advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) Dhanush . This trial will
clear the way for induction in Indian Army. Dhanush was developed by Defence
Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboratin with Private Sectors.
ATAGS is a 155-MM ,52-calibre towed artillery gun
is developed in aim of Indian Army’s artillery modernisation program. It was
designed by DRDO’s Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) and
aided by transfer of technology (ToT) signed by Swedish Company.
About Dhanush :
Dhanush is a 155 MM/52 Calibre towed howitzer used
by Indian Army. It is also known as Desi Bofors. It has a striking range of 45
km against the old 27km of original Bofors. It has a Auto-Correct any
variations in ammunition and atmospheric pressures. It has high resolution
sight besides infrared sight., high mobility, advanced communication system,
automated command and control system.
