The Pravasi Bhartiya Divas is
the Annual global convention for the Indian Diaspora which is held on January 9
every year since 2003. The 14th Edition of the Pravasi Bhariya Divas
begins in Bengaluru, Karnataka and it will end in 9th December 2017.
The Theme of 14th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas convention is “redefined
Engagement with Indian Diaspora”.
This will be the largest
convergence of Indian Diaspora with the spotlight on the role of youth in
transforming society. As part of 2017 Pravasi Bhartiya Divas the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya
Divas was inaugurated with an aim to connect with the Youth growing up all over
the world.
The Chief Guest for Pravasi
Bhartiya Divas was Prime minister of Republic of Portugal Dr. Antonio Costa
and the Guest for the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is Vice President of
republic of Suriname MR. Michael Ashwin Satyandre Adhin.
About Pravasi Bhartiya Divas:
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD)
is celebrated on January 9 every year to mark the contribution of overseas
Indian community to the development of India since 2003. January 9 was chosen as
the day to celebrate because in this day Mahatma Gandhi came to India on 1915
from South Africa and begins his freedom struggle to get India’s Independence.
These conventions will provide
a platform to the overseas Indians to engage with Indian Government and people
for mutually beneficial activities. It also helps in sharing their knowledge in
various Fields. It also honours the individuals with the prestigious Pravasi
Bharatiya Samman Award to appreciate their role in India’s Growth.
This is the 14th
Convention of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas which is held in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The
first Pravasi Bhartiya Divas was held in New Delhi.
