1.India successfully test fired Nuclear capable Agni-IV Missile.
India has successfully test fired the Nuclear Capable strategic
Ballistic Missile Agni-IV from Kalam Island, Odisha.
Agni-IV is surface to surface missile which has the capacity to strike
range of 4000 km was tested from launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range
(ITR) at Kalam Island which is formerly known as Wheeler Island. It is 20
meters Tall and weighs 17 tons.
This was the 6th trial, 6 out of 5 trials tested
successfully. The Last trial was conducted on Nov,2015. Last week India has
successfully test fired Agni V which has the capacity to strike rage of 5000
Km.
It is equipped with 5th Generation On-Board Computer and
distributed architecture.
It also has the most accurate ring laser Gyro- based
inertial Navigation system (RINS) and supported by Micro Navigation System
(MINGS) which ensures the vehicles to reach the target with 2 digit accuracy.
2. President Appointed David Syiemlieh as the New UPSC Chairman.
President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed Prof David R Syiemlieh as the
new chairman of the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). He will assume
charge from January 4 and will retire on jan 21 2018.
He is from Meghalaya and was a member of UPSC .He will take
over from Alka Sirohi.
