Scientists claim discovery of drowned continent- Zealandia.
Scientist have reported that discovery of eighth continent with two-thirds the size of Australia has been found beneath the south-west Pacific Ocean- named Zealandia.
Zealandia stretched 5-Million square kilometres and majority of region under the ocean while some parts are in modern day New Zealand, New Caledonia and some part above the Pacific Ocean.
Scientist believed that Zealandia was possibly part of Super-continent Gondwana and broke away nearly 100 million year ago.
Mortimer a lead author of paper titled ‘Zealandia: Earth’s hidden continent’, says that the new discoveries prove what had long been suspected
