India to Construct multi-ethnic trilingual school in Sri Lanka:
India and Sri Lanka
has signed a MoU to construct a new multi-ethnic trilingual school in
Polonnaruwa District , Sri Lanka.
This will provide
opportunities to Tamil, Sinhala, and Muslim students to learn in multi-cultural
environment.
The MoU was signed by High Commissioner of
India to Sri Lanka Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Secretary to the Ministry of
Education Sunil Hettiarachchi.
About
the MoU:
As
per the Mo, the School will be constructed in President
Maithripala Sirisena’s home district Polonnaruwa using a grant of Rs. 300 million from the Government of
India.
The project will envisage Construction of class
rooms, laboratories, library and also procurement of furniture and other equipment.
This
Project will contribute Sri Lankan President’s effort to promote and strengthen
reconciliation and unity in Sri Lanka.
