MGNREGS Funds, South India bagged around 30 percentages of funds.
The Southern states of
India have bagged around 30 percentages of funds under the MGNREGS (Mahatma
Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Southern States are
bagging 30 Percentages of funds continuously for 10 to 11 years even though
southern states possess lesser share of rural poor in the country.
But in Chattisgarh,
Uttar Pradesh and Bihar which has around 45 to 50 percentage of the country’s
rural poor, bagging only 25 percentage of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural
Employment Guarantee Scheme fund (MGNREGS).
This Distortion is not created by anyone but it is due to better absorbing capacity of the
South. The challenges under MGNREGS will be to improve the absorbing capacity
of the northern States.
