1.Union Cabinet approves India's accession to global customs convention
Union
Cabinet has given approval for accession to the 'Customs Convention on
International Transport of Goods' which will help in faster movement of export
goods. The union Cabinet was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
It
will help traders to get easy, fast, reliable, hassle free international
system for movement of goods by road or multi-modal means across the
territories of other contracting parties. By official statement.
About Customs Convention on International Transport of Good
The
Customs Convention on International Transport of Goods under cover of TIR
Carnets, 1975, TIR is an international transit system under the United
Nations Economic Commission for Europe to facilitate the movement of goods
among the parties to the convention. Currently there are 70 members.
By
joining the convention, inspection of goods at intermediate borders as well as physical
escorts can be prevented due to reciprocal recognition of customs
controls.
It
also helps to avoid the congestion in ports because it makes customs clearance
to take place in customs location, which will avoid clearance in border
crossing point.
Convention
also ensure enhanced security in supply chain as it allow only the recognised
transporters and vehicles are allowed to operate
Benefits under TIR
Any
movement under TIR will check only the seal and outer condition of load or
container which reduce the time delay in borders , transaction cost, transport
cost, which will increase the growth in trade and transport sectors
2.11th Indo-Nepal joint military exercise 'Surya Kiran-Xi' begins
11th
Indo-Nepal joint military exercise 'Surya Kiran-Xi' began in the Pithoragarh
area of Uttarakhand .Surya kiran exercise series being conducted biannually,
alternatively in India and Nepal.
Nepal
Army is being represented DURGA BAKSH Battalion and the EKTA SHAKTI
Battalion of The Punjab Regiment is participating on behalf of the Indian Army.
About Exercise:
- This is a battalion level joint exercise between two countries. It is a 14 days exercise which will conclude on March 20.
- 2 week long exercise is the 11th exercise between the two countries aimed in training of both the troops in the area of various counter insurgency operations in mountain terrain.
- It also focus on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations and environmental conservation
- It will also enhance defence co-operation and military relations between both India and Nepal.
3. Indo-Oman joint army exercise Al Nagah-Ii 2017 begins in Himachal
Pradesh
The
Second edition of Indo-Oman Joint Army Exercise AI Nagah-li 2017 begins
with the Opening Ceremony at Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh. The last edition of
Exercise held at Muscat, Oman inn 2015
.
About Exercise:
The 14 Day joint military exercise “Al Nagah-II
between India and Oman Army from Mach 6-19 objective is to build and enhance
bilateral Military relations, enhance interoperability in conducting joint
operation during insurgency or counter terrorism between the Indian Army and
Royal Army of Oman.
Around
60 troops from both India and Oman army will participate in this Exercise. The
Training Contingents comprise of platoon strength troops from both India and
Oman Armies and it will be validated by senior military observers
