1, The Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2016 passed in Rajya Sabha.
Rajya Sabha has
passed the Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill, it was already passed
in lokh Sabha March 2016.
The Bill amends the
Enemy property Act,1968, for the person who migrated to Pakistan and China
baring them to take over their properties.
About the Amendment:
- Amend is to vest all rights, titles and interests over enemy property in the custodian and declares transfer of property by enemy as void.
- It applies retrospectively to all transfers that have occurred after the act was passed.
- The definition of “enemy” and “enemy subject” to include the legal Heirs or successors of the enemy, even if the latter is a citizen of India or Non-enemy country.
- As per new bill, the law of succession will not apply to the legal heirs or successor of the enemy.
- Bill also prohibits civil courts and other authorities from entertaining disputes related to enemy property.

2.India’s Lost
Chandrayaan-1 found orbiting Moon by NASA
India’s first lunar
mission Chandrayaan-1 which was believed lost, is still orbiting the moon by
NASA Scientists. ISRO lost communication with Chandrayaan-1 on August 29,2009
after its launch on October 28,2008.
About the Finding:
- NASA has said that they have been able to detect ISRO’s Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft from the ground based radar located at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California,
- NASA Said that Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft was circling some 200 km above the lunar surface.
- They also said that they found NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter around the Moon.
About Chandrayaan-1:
Chandrayaan-1 is
India’s first Lunar Exploration mission launched on October 28,2008. It was
worked almost one year till August 29,2009 after it lost its signal. It was launched
using vehicle PSLV -C11 from Satish Dawan Space Centre
It was successfully
inserted in lunar orbit on November 8 2008 and it is indigenously developed by
ISRO to explore the moon.
3. Odisha, Bengal,
Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand come together for Elephant census.
Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh
and Jharkhand have come together to conduct a Elephant Census between May 9 and
May 12. The day was selected specifically to sighting the Elephant expected to
be easier on night due to Full moon light.
These are the four
states have maximum human animal conflict prone area. This is the first such
attempt and decision was taken by senior forest department officers of the four
States.
About
Census Method.
- They have decided to take census in 2 methods, direct and indirect method with identical set of rules.
- The direct counting method is based on direct sighting of Elephant.
- The indirect counting method is uses the “dung decay “formula, in which dung of the Elephant will be analysis to estimate the population.
- Already Tamil Nadu and Karnataka has used the Dung Decay formula for their census of Elephant.
