India’s Lost Chandrayaan-1 found orbiting Moon by NASA
India’s first lunar mission Chandrayaan-1 which was believed lost, is still orbiting the moon by NASA Scientists. ISRO lost communication with Chandrayaan-1 on August 29,2009 after its launch on October 28,2008.
About the Finding:
- NASA has said that they have been able to detect ISRO’s Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft from the ground based radar located at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California,
- NASA Said that Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft was circling some 200 km above the lunar surface.
- They also said that they found NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter around the Moon.
About Chandrayaan-1:
Chandrayaan-1 is India’s first Lunar Exploration mission launched on October 28,2008. It was worked almost one year till August 29,2009 after it lost its signal. It was launched using vehicle PSLV -C11 from Satish Dawan Space Centre
It was successfully inserted in lunar orbit on November 8 2008 and it is indigenously developed by ISRO to explore the moon.
