United
States President Donald Trump said that US Pulls out from the Paris Climate
Agreement but begins negotiation to re-enter either a Paris accord or an
entirely new transaction, on terms that are fair to the United States, its
business, its workers, its people, its tax payers.
US
contributes about 15 Per cent of Global emission of Carbon dioxide, it also a
significant source of finance and technology for developing countries for their
efforts to curb global temperature.
About Paris Agreement:
The Paris agreement is an agreement struck in 2015
between 195 countries pledging to curb the greenhouse gas emission and keep the
global temperature from rising no more than 2 degree Celsius but 1.5 degree
Celsius set as an ambitious target especially to protect small islands
countries like Haiti, Maldives, which are threatened to submerge due to
warming.
India’s Position:
- India will stick with their commitment and work towards the goal of Paris Agreement.
- India is working to build 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022 and expects non-conventional sources to account for 40 Per cent of total generation capacity by 2030.
- US Pull out will help India because the investors will look for a country with a solid green energy policy and commitment which means wider sources of funding for Indian solar and other renewable energy projects.
