India and Portugal Signs 6 Agreements including Defence Agreement.
India
and Portugal have signed Six MoU (Memorandum of Understandings) which includes
Defence Cooperation in New Delhi.
The
Six Memorandum of understanding were signed after the high delegation level
talks Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Portugal Prime Minister Antonio
Costa.
MoU which
includes the defence Cooperation, Prime Minister said Mou on Defence
Cooperation that it will help both the nation harness their “ respective
strength in this field for mutual benefit”
Prime
Minister Narendra Modi thanked his counterpart MR Antonio Costa for attending
as the Chief Guest for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2017.
The 6
MoU signed are.
1. MoU on Defence Cooperation to boost joint production and development of niche weapons
systems..
2. MoU in the field of Information Technology and Electronics.
3.MoU on Renewable Energy.
4. MoU on Marine Research
5.. MoU in the Agricultural Trade
6. MoU on the establishment of an ICCR Chair of Indian Studies in
University of Lisbon.
The agreement on Diplomatic Passport was also signed which allows visa free travel
for diplomatic passport holders of India and Portugal for short term vists.
